US Navy Sea Flyer

In 2002, GPA provided the US Navy and Navatek Shipyard with a comprehensive set of design documents for the conversion of the 51-meter long HYSWAC (Hybrid Small Waterplane Area Craft) Sea Flyer, a former Navy Surface Effects Ship. The US Navy Sea Flyer is a unique hybrid lifting body ship that combines the high-speed capabilities of a hydrofoil and the rough-water stability of a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH). For the conversion, GPA designed the mechanical systems, and provided structural and stability analysis, as well as construction support. The conversion was completed in June 2003.
